President's Report 2010 by Kevin Liang (Dec 2010)

YF President’s Report

YF theme verse:
‘So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.’—Rom 12:5

Thank God for His faithfulness upon the YF in the year 2010. We began the year with many new goals and plans ahead, but God’s grace was certainly sufficient for us.

After much prayer and discussion, our committee decided on 3 main areas of focus for the year 2010. Our greatest burden for YF 2010 was for the youth to have a deeper fellowship as a body of Christ, and that naturally became our theme for the year.

Another area of focus was the training up of leaders for the years ahead. We thank God for giving us the grace to fulfill this not only within the committee, but also amongst our younger brothers and sisters in Christ.

Our third area of focus was to reach out to the youth in church. Afternoons were invested in writing cards, making gifts and even baking for our youth. Most importantly, we thank God for giving us the strength and desire to uphold each of them in prayer. Unlike previous years, our exco decided on planning regular youth retreats instead of having a year-end camp. We praise God for all the youth who attended each of the 3 retreats, especially for those who weren’t able to join us regularly for the weekly YF activities.

By God’s grace, the largest proportion of our activities in the year 2010 was dedicated to the area of ministry, both within our church and beyond. We thank God for the opportunity to spread His word to the community through our regular tracting sessions at Jurong East and for the opportunity to minister to families of our members through cottage meetings.

One of the highlights of Yf 2010 would be the bible study series that we embarked on, centered on the topic of Love, Courtship and Marriage. We thank God for our burden to choose this topic and for the many lessons He has taught each one of us, both during our discussions and also through the sharing sessions by representatives from the young adults, the young couples, and even the more mature couples.

To name all the activities for the year would not be possible, but we want to acknowledge God’s mighty hand in leading and directing our YF for the year 2010. He has certainly been faithful to honour our YF, even as we have chosen to honour Him in our fellowship meetings.

I’m reminded that it’s not about what we have done for the Lord, whether as exco members, or YF members; rather, it is God’s greater work in us and through us that really counts. It is my prayer that God’s work and purpose will be accomplished in the YF as well as the TF, even as the youth seek to delight and trust in Him in the years ahead.

‘Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.’—Psalm 37:4-5

GCYF PRESIDENT REPORT 2008

I would like to thank you all for coming to our GCYF 47th Anniversary. It is good to look back at how God has preserved the YF for the past 47th years. I would like to thank God for the 6 who have been appointed as office bearers in the Ex-co and for the _____ (No of member) member in the YF this year. I would also like to thank God for Rev. Ong Hock Khee and Dness Charissa Heng as our Advisor and Supervisor. They have always been there to guide us and point us back to God’s word. Our theme this year is “Walking In Love” and this verse is taken from EPHESIANS 5:1-2 “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.” Our theme song is “ A Common love”. This year the YF will be focusing on loving and appreciating one another as well as others around us, just as Christ has loved us.

Here is a short introduction of what the GCYF has done over the past few months. We had Dn David Ling to speak to us on our theme, a “Leading in Singspiration” workshop, a CNY Reunion Dinner with the TF, Street and Door-to-door Tracting as well as an Evangecube workshop where we learnt a new method of evangelism. We also prayed for our Church Leaders, learning that God’s word tells us to remember our spiritual leaders in prayer. The Yfers also have a prayer and sharing session weekly, where each shares his/her items of thanksgiving and prayer requests. In addition, we invited the JF2 class to join us as we watched the video “Eric Liddell”, which told the inspiring story of a champion who gave up his running career to serve God in China. Last but not least, we had outing at West Coast Park, although it rain. we still have a lot of fun and have fellowship with one another.

As for the next three quarters of this year, the GCYF has planned for sisters’ and brothers’ appreciation nights where we show our sincere appreciation and gratitude towards our fellow sisters and brothers-in-Christ. Some of our activities include practical workshops as well, such as a First Aid workshop. Nearing to Fathers’ and Mothers’ Day, we will be inviting some fathers and mothers to share with us about the heart of a father and mother respectively. Also included in our year’s plan are the Combined B-P YF Games Day, Gardening, a visit to Ling Kwang Home, combined meetings with other B-P churches, Sing & Share, combined activities with the JF2, TF and YAF, a workshop on “5 Love languages”, Pray for our Nation, Fast and Pray, Candlelight fellowship and our GCYF Camp.

Before I end the President’s report, I would like to share a verse with all of you. It is taken from 2 Corinthians 4: 18. “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” May God bless all of you richly.

In-Chirst,

President's Report 2007 by Daniel Lee (Dec 2007)

GCYF PRESIDENT REPORT 2007

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.

Firstly would like to thank God:

• For the Ex-Co that He has provides.
• Has given the committee the wisdom and strength to plan for the program for GCYF this year.

This Year our theme is “fellowship with God and man” and it taken from 1 John 1:7a ‘But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another’. As such, this year the YF have been focusing on fellowship with God and building strong bonds with one another. Using the book “When God Speaks” written by Henry and Richard Blackaby. From this book, we’ll learn how God Speaks to us:

• Using the Holy Spirit.
• Through the Bible,
• Through Prayer,
• Through Life’s circumstances and
• Through the church.

The YF has prayer session at the end of the meetings, where we pray not only for the YF itself but also for Church and Nation. We also share how God has blessed us throughout the week.

The activities that the YF have this year were :

➢ Chinese new year reunion dinner, having invited the Sunday School student , It was a good opportunity to fellowship during the festive season.
➢ Outing to
• West Coast Park when we learn how to fly kite.
• Lim Kwang Home to encourage the old folks
➢ Door-to-door and street tracting. It was a good experience for all of us. It is with great faith that many souls can be saved through this activity.
➢ Had Rev.Agus from Pakistan to share his testimony with us.
➢ Have Video on mission, on how:
• God use missionary to win soul to Christ.
• How they put their faith and trust on God.
➢ Cottage meeting at Elder Richard Ng Home,
➢ Our own YF games day
➢ To army museum with the CF/JF.
➢ We had “sing and share” where the YFer got to sing their favorite song and to tell us how this song is so meaningful to them.
➢ Had “candle fellowship that we didn’t had for the pass few year. We got to share how God had blessed them throughout the year.
➢ Last but not list is our YF camp that we held it at Nazareth B-P Church and our theme was “Spiritual Growth” preach by Rev.Ong. during the camp we learn that what ever we do we should Glorify God

But the most importantly is doing God’s will. We also watch “Left behind pt1, 2 and 3”.To see the evidence before the second coming of Christ. We also invite Rev (DR) Goh to speak to us on “Spiritual Gift”. That we learn to identify the gift.

This year the YF had the opportunity to fellowship with other B-P Churches youth group on Combined game day, Youth Conference and also on message on “The Fruit of the Spirit” by Rev. Anthony Tan. We learn that:

• Love, Joy and Peace was the relationship with God .
• Long-suffering, Gentleness and Goodness was our attitude toward others.
• Faith, Meekness and Temperance was on ourselves.

We got Elder John Chiew to preach to us on “Relationship With our Parent”. We learn how to relate to our parent. .

Before I conclude the President’s Report. I would like to use this opportunity to thank the Ex-co for their support.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverb 3:5-6)

President's Report 2007 by Daniel Lee (Apr 2007)

GCYF 46nd Anniversary 2007
Presidents Report

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
(Hebrews 10 : 23-25)

First and foremost, i would like to welcome all of you to GCFY's 46th Anniversary 2007. Such events are good opportunities to count our blessings and to celebrate with God. Every year, our anniversary celebration serves as a time where we can review with our YF and session members how God has blessed or used us in the past year. May you thus be spiritually encouraged as you see how the Lord's work is progressing through the YF.

Firstly, God had graciously blessed our committee with 7 office bearers this year, bringing out total YF membership to 18 members. This is very encouraging, as it i s nice to see that youths are becoming more active in the Lord's work. I am definitely happy to work with this new members and will be looking forward to having more youths volunteer themselves for the Lord's work.

Secondly, regarding bible studies in the YF, we have completed precept studies that we left off last year on the topic, „ Discover What The Future Holds‰. As for this year, out theme is‰ Fellowship with God and Man‰ and it taken from 1 John 1:7a 'But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another'. As such, this year the YF will be focusing on fellowship with God and building strong bonds with one another. We will also be using the book‰ When God speaks‰, written by Henry Blackaby and Richard Blackaby. From this book , we'll learn how God speaks to us using the Holy Spirit, through the Bible, through prayer, through life's circumstances and through the church, Lastly, the YF will continue with our prayer session at the end of meeting, where we pray not only for the YF but also for the church and for God's kingdom as a whole.

Thirdly, some key activities the YF had in the past few months include the Chinese New Year Reunion Diner in February. Having invited the Sunday School students to the diner, it was a good opportunity to fellowship during the festive season. In March, we also went for street tracting. This is the first time the YF did street tracting and i'm sure it was a good experience for all of us. It is with great faith that many souls would be saved through this activity, and as such the YF will continue with street tracting in future.

Before i conclude the President's report for the YF's 46th Anniversary, i would like to say that having seen how God has blessed us so far, i am extremely excited to continue serving Him for the rest of 2007 and beyond. I certainly hope that from seeing how the Lord has blessed us and through us , blessed others, you will be similarly encouraged as i am to continue serving him fervently. I would like to end off with this verse .

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy path.
(Proverbs 3 : 5-6)

President's Report 2006 by Michael Chew (Apr 2006)

GCYF 13th Anniversary 2006
Presidents Report

Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
Psalms 36:5
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Psalms 90:12

We have almost reached the middle of the year and it is always good to count our blessings at celebrations like this. Every year the anniversary is the time when we communicate to our YF members and the session members how God has blessed or used us. I am especially excited to serve the Lord for the rest of 2006 after seeing how He has blessed us in the first segment of the year. May you be encouraged also as you see how the Lord’s work is progressing in the YF.

God was and is gracious to give our committee, 5 office bearers and 2 supervisory staff this year. We are glad to know that the younger youths are becoming more active in the Lord’s work. I am thrilled to work with the newer members and will be looking forward to the day when all the younger youths volunteer themselves for the Lord’s use.

Even as we moved into a new year, our theme has remained unchanged. Let us all not give up this theme. After having it for a year and a half, it has become a part of our weekly activities. We must not place our emphasis elsewhere because as Rev. Ong would remind us, from his thesis report written in his Bible College days, that “a church that does not evangalise will fossilize.”

The YF is an integral part of the church. We assist the church in practical means like arranging the furniture in the fellowship hall and folding the church bulletins for the church service. We also help the church in its outreach efforts during the festive seasons like Christmas, when the YF will help usher guests and more importantly, share testimonies or salvation and personal evangelism. This is certainly in alignment with our theme to reach out.

2006 is going to be a year of 2 major things – praying and reaching out. As we step into the other half of the year, I hope for the YF to intercede for our unsaved friends and loved ones. This will put our church’s theme into our context. Praying is not something new to the YF. We have integrated element of prayer in our weekly meetings even before we renamed this fellowship group to YF. Thus, the church’s theme serves as a reminder to all our youths in the YF to be prayerful about all matters.

Come September this year, Moriah BP Church YF will be hosting the annual Combined YF Meeting. May we also not forget to reach out to our fellow BP churches in fellowship and encouragement to other believers.

Let us be excited and anticipative of 2006 and ultimately, for Christ’s return.

President's Report 2005 by Michael Chew (Nov 2005)

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Proverbs 29:18
“Having ever in mind your work of faith and acts of love and the strength of your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;” 1 Thess. 1:3
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

As our theme song refrains to us to send the Light, we give thanks to our gracious God who sustained the YF and used us to send the Light. Our theme this year is “Beacons for Christ”, coupled with theme verse, Matthew 5:16. I always see a theme as something we must achieve for the year. But this year, the Lord made me even more realise that this theme should not be just a theme for 2005, but for the rest of our lives.

We are glad that God has done great things for us this year. He blessed us in both ‘hard ware’ and ‘heart ware’. Our theme was fulfilled through three main types of evangelism instruments, namely, evangelism training, tracting sessions, and outreach video screenings. A first this year is evangelism training in mandarin. Rev Ong, our advisor, trained us to share the gospel in mandarin so that we can be equipped with our linguistics to reach the mandarin-speaking people around our church. This, I must say, is quite a highlight of this year because it was vital in improving the way we share the gospel.

In order to be nourished by the Bible, we embarked on the “My God is Real” journaling program that helped us to know God’s names like Jehovah Tsidkenu (God is my Righteousness). The primary Bible study used this year is “How to walk the walk you talk” by Kay Arthur. It is facilitated by our committee members and guided by Rev Ong and Dness Heng. Ex-YF members and members of the Church Session were invited to share their testimonies of salvation to the YF. We also outreached quite a bit by playing host to more than 150 participants in the combined youth fellowship meeting of six participating churches in September. Started in April, a collection of favourite choruses and hymns of our YF was sung and will be compiled to share God’s goodness with the rest of the world. The YF also plays a part in the church operations like weekly bulletin preparation, arrangement of furniture, spring-cleaning, and gardening, which was introduced this year. Our calendar was also punctuated with some fellowship activities like a reunion dinner and home visits to those need encouragement.

Even as the YF is a fellowship group, what fills it are the people in it. The committee would not have been completely effective if it has not pointed people to God. Since this group has started until today, one of its key objectives is to promote Christian love and fellowship amongst its members, as stated in our constitution. Whether we achieve our theme or not is just insufficient. We ourselves must internalise what the theme says. I am thankful to God to know that our members are interested in spiritual affairs than just our theme fulfillment. Our prayer sessions after our meeting reminds us of God’s goodness and we see God’s hand at work when we pray. More are interested in sharing God’s blessing on them that shows their gratefulness to God. In a survey conducted recently, 98% have indicated attitudes that reflect Christ-like attitudes like seeking to extend God’s kingdom, pleasing God always, and standing up for our faith. This is God’s blessing to us – longing for God-centered living.

As for the future, we do not know what lies ahead for us but with the new committee installed, I hope to see us continuing to know that we are doing all this for God. God’s word in Proverbs warns us that when there is ignorance of God, crime and sin will possibly run rampant. In order for the YF to function well, we must know God’s ways and keep His rules.
